Publication Ethics

The Journal of Intelligent Engineering and Informatics (JIEI) is committed to maintaining high standards of publication ethics and academic integrity. Authors, reviewers, and editors are expected to follow ethical practices in scholarly publishing.

Author Responsibilities

Authors must ensure that:

  • The submitted work is original.
  • The manuscript has not been published elsewhere.
  • The manuscript is not under consideration by another journal.
  • All listed authors made significant scholarly contributions.
  • All data, figures, tables, and results are accurate and not fabricated.
  • Proper credit is given to previous work.
  • Conflicts of interest are disclosed.
  • Funding sources are acknowledged.
  • Ethical approval is provided where human or animal data are involved.
  • AI tool usage, if any, is properly disclosed.

Authorship Criteria

Authorship should be limited to individuals who made substantial contributions to:

  • Conceptualization or design of the work.
  • Data collection, analysis, or interpretation.
  • Method development, experimentation, or validation.
  • Writing, reviewing, or editing the manuscript.
  • Final approval of the submitted version.

Guest authorship, gift authorship, ghost authorship, and honorary authorship are not acceptable.

Research Integrity

The JIEI does not tolerate:

  • Data fabrication.
  • Data falsification.
  • Image manipulation.
  • Plagiarism.
  • Duplicate submission.
  • Redundant publication.
  • Citation manipulation.
  • Fake peer review.
  • Undisclosed conflicts of interest.
  • Misuse of AI-generated content.

Human and Animal Studies

Manuscripts involving human participants, patient data, clinical images, animal experiments, or biological samples must include appropriate ethical approval details from an institutional review board, ethics committee, or equivalent authority. Authors must confirm that informed consent was obtained where required.

Data and Reproducibility

Authors are encouraged to provide sufficient methodological detail to allow reproducibility. Where appropriate, authors should include data availability statements, code availability statements, software versions, dataset sources, parameter settings, and experimental protocols.

Editorial Independence

Editorial decisions are based only on scholarly merit, technical quality, ethical compliance, and relevance to the journal scope. Decisions are not influenced by nationality, gender, institutional affiliation, religion, political views, or ability to pay APCs.
