AI-Use Policy

The Journal of Intelligent Engineering and Informatics (JIEI) recognizes that artificial intelligence tools may assist authors in language refinement, formatting, coding support, data visualization, and literature organization. However, AI tools must be used responsibly and transparently.

Restricted Use

AI tools must not be used to:

  • Fabricate data.
  • Generate false results.
  • Create fake references.
  • Produce misleading images.
  • Replace genuine scientific analysis.
  • Write peer-review reports without reviewer accountability.
  • Generate manuscripts without author verification.
  • Create unsupported claims.

Disclosure Requirement

Authors must disclose AI tool use in the manuscript if AI tools contributed to writing, analysis, image generation, code development, or interpretation.

Suggested statement:

The authors used [name of AI tool] for [language editing / formatting / coding assistance]. All scientific content, data analysis, interpretation, and conclusions were reviewed and verified by the authors.

If no AI tool was used, authors may state:

The authors declare that no AI tool was used in the preparation, analysis, or writing of this manuscript.

Authorship and Accountability

AI tools cannot be listed as authors. Authors are fully responsible for all content in the manuscript, including any text, code, figures, equations, or references assisted by AI tools.

AI-Generated Images and Figures

AI-generated images must be clearly disclosed. In scientific figures, AI-generated content is not acceptable unless it is clearly labelled, justified, and does not misrepresent experimental data. 

Reviewer Use of AI

Reviewers must not upload confidential manuscripts to public AI tools and third-party systems. Manuscripts under review are confidential documents.
